Locations supported:

We’re looking for candidates who are located between the USA East Coast and Central Europe time zones. Although we’re a globally distributed company, ensuring the leadership team works in cohesive time zones is essential to our goals. Additionally, the company plans to get together ~one week per quarter at our New York City office.

About the role:

As an Engineering Manager at Irreducible, you'll play a key role in developing our engineering journey. Collaborating with co-founders, you'll shape the roadmap, hire and mentor software engineers, and ensure they have the resources and support they need to succeed. Think of this as a hands-on, player-coach role – not just providing guidance but also leading by technical example.

About you:

You’re a proactive Engineering Manager who's as passionate about hands-on tech as they are about shaping a fantastic team culture. If you like to take ownership and thrive in an environment of ambiguity and hustle, this is a job for you!

What will you do:

• Manage a low-level systems software team and ensure high-quality, timely work

• Establish engineering processes and best practices

• Define and track engineering metrics

• Represent the team in leadership decision-making, and ensure that their work is aligned with the higher-level company vision and goals

Apply if you have:

• 8+ years in tech with 4+ years in management

• Early-stage startup experience

• Familiarity with Rust, C++, and C

• Hands-on, high-impact role experience

Bonus qualifications:

• Blended hardware/software company background

• Deep Layer 2 blockchain knowledge with previous work experience in this space

• HPC, AI, Image Processing, or Self-Driving Car involvement

• Experience with running bare-metal servers in the data center

• Understanding operating systems principles
