Senior Protocol Engineer

Join us as a Senior Protocol Engineer at Sorella Labs, where you will be instrumental in architecting and engineering a first-of-its-kind decentralized trading system at the forefront of MEV-aware application design. You will be responsible for supporting the design, testing, and implementation of our Rust-based backend execution and consensus systems, which play a pivotal role in the functioning of our protocol.
This full-time, in-person role is based in our Soho, Manhattan office.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our protocol engineer on the research, development, and implementation of Angstrom, our Rust-based execution engine and underlying consensus
- Play a key role in the development of our other Rust-based projects, such as Brontes, our proprietary MEV tracing system
- Architect and implement core and peripheral mechanisms for Angstrom and Brontes
- Conduct robust tests to ensure quality and stability
- Lead and manage a team of talented developers, ensuring efficient project progress across the backend stack
- Create and manage comprehensive technical documentation and diagrams for public use
- Constantly be curious and evaluate how to improve current code implementation
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of the Rust language, with proven previous development experience
- Demonstrated history working on high-performance production systems, with a deep understanding of asynchronous programming, networking, and computer architecture
- Familiarity with the Ethereum Virtual Machine
- Experience designing and building critical systems from the ground up
- Ability to contribute effectively in an asynchronous work environment, both as part of a team and independently
- Track record in leading technical teams and in management of complex software projects
- A strong passion for writing elegant and efficient code
Nice to Haves
- Previous experience in high-frequency trading or MEV
- Significant contributions to open source projects
- Working knowledge of the Ethereum ecosystem and MEV supply chain
- Experience working with Ethereum execution clients, particularly Reth
- Experience working with Ethereum consensus clients like Lighthouse and Prysm
- Experience designing and implementing consensus-based systems
- Background in mathematics
Compensation
$275-350K base + equity
This is an expected compensation range but may vary depending on level of experience.
