The Optimism Foundation is seeking an Ecosystem Marketing Manager, Apps who lives and breathes DeFi to spearhead co-marketing initiatives across the Superchain ecosystem. This role is focused on applications, with an initial emphasis on DeFi, payments, and other TradFi use cases. Over time, the scope will expand to include a broader range of app categories. It's perfect for someone who gets excited about yield strategies, understands liquidity dynamics, and can translate complex DeFi concepts into clear, compelling narratives tailored to both degen and institutional audiences.
The Ecosystem Marketing Manager, Apps should be able to paint a vivid picture of the opportunity, making the benefits of the Superchain and why finance on it is 10x immediately clear. You'll drive adoption of Superchain applications by working closely with app developers and chain operators, creating strategies that showcase how Optimism is the premier destination for DeFi innovation.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you'll own multimedia content creation and growth initiatives that connect developers and end-users with the groundbreaking DeFi opportunities uniquely possible on the Superchain. What are the role responsibilities?
Own co-marketing initiatives with app developers and chain operators in the Superchain ecosystem, while advising top app teams on how to make marketing work for them — a key area where several teams need support.
Execute growth strategies to increase the adoption of Superchain applications
Develop marketing strategies that effectively target both institutional businesses (e.g., Revolut, Fidelity, BlackRock) and DeFi-native audiences.
Create and manage multimedia content — including repurposing existing livestreams, podcasts, and walkthroughs into short-form, evergreen assets. We have a backlog of content we’ve barely touched, and we’ve been bad at reusing what we already have.
Drive end-user adoption across Superchain apps, acting as a counterpart to teams focused on OP Stack chains and developer funnels
Develop and implement strategies to reach developers and users through appropriate channels (email, Discord, TikTok, Telegram, YouTube, in-product education)
Build growth muscle across the Superchain ecosystem by implementing measurable marketing campaigns
Collaborate with partners to align on messaging and maximize impact
Track and report on key performance metrics related to user adoption and engagement
What skills do you bring?
6+ years of experience in marketing, with a focus on growth or ecosystem marketing
Experience in crypto, blockchain, or Web3 industry preferred
Strong understanding of DeFi, L2 scaling solutions, and the Ethereum ecosystem
Excellent project management skills and ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
Experience with multimedia content creation and distribution strategies
Strong analytical skills with the ability to measure and optimize marketing campaigns
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working with developers and technical audiences
Add'l nice to have experience:
Experience with video editing or managing multimedia content creation
Knowledge of the Optimism ecosystem and Superchain architecture
Prior experience in developer marketing or developer relations
Experience with community building in crypto/Web3
