Our small, but mighty, web3 engineering startup is seeking a dynamic, high energy Office Manager to oversee our new Mitte office (currently being built out, and set to open early 2025), and become an integral part of our People Operations function. This role is ideal for a highly organized individual who thrives in a multifaceted environment, and enjoys building processes, and culture, from the ground up! We’re looking for someone to drive the energy of the office, and be a pillar of culture within our partially-remote company.
Note: You’ll need to be in the office at least three days per week, in addition to five on an “as needed” basis. For example, if we have a week-long company offsite, you’ll need to be in the office the entire time.
About the role:
We recognize that you might not have had extensive experience in both Office Management and People Operations. Even if you haven’t touched every element of the position, please feel free to apply! Culture fit is super important to us, and we’re willing to teach the right person.
Office Management:
Oversee day-to-day office operations, ensuring a smooth, upbeat, efficient work environment. Our office is currently being built out, so you might need to oversee some elements of this build out.
Lead coordination of team offsites (all 25 employees get together for a week of working, knowledge sharing, and fun activities around the city)
Manage all office logistics (ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, coordinating with vendors, etc.)
Handle requests from in-person employees, such as organizing lunches.
Develop and plan in-person events, dinners, and team bonding activities.
Provide administrative support to the leadership team.
Assist with expense reports and basic bookkeeping tasks.
People/Recruiting Operations:
Assist with new employee onboarding, including elements such as ordering employee hardware, administering employment contracts, and maintaining employee records in our databases.
Work with People Team to roll out different monthly and quarterly programs, such as performance reviews and compensation cycles.
Assist recruiting team with scheduling interviews, or other support tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience as an office manager or something similar (for example, Community Manager at a coworking space)
Experience building in-person and/or remote culture (and something that excites you!)
Knowledge or experience in HR operations
Strong communication abilities in English are a must.
Candidates with business proficiency in German will be prioritized.
Qualities
Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
Adaptability and willingness to take on various responsibilities in a growing office
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams of mostly computer engineers
Discretion in handling confidential information
About us:
We're building out a high-performance, cost-efficient compute stack for advanced cryptographic proofs, specifically zk-SNARKs. Verifiable computing with zk-SNARKs is taking off as a solution to the scalability and privacy limitations that today's blockchains suffer from. A new wave of blockchain protocols that use zk-SNARKs to prove smart contract executions, such as Polygon zkEVM, Starknet, and zkSync, are already in production. We believe there is a big market opportunity to generate proofs for these networks at scale in a cost-effective way [1]. There are lots of interesting performance engineering challenges we need to solve to keep up with the maximum device throughput.
We take the approach of co-designing hardware and software systems to accelerate SNARK generation end-to-end. Our first-generation tech stack uses FPGA accelerators running custom digital logic tailor-made for our use case [2].
We also conduct cryptography research to identify computationally efficient algorithms for verifiable computing. These research efforts produced a novel cryptographic construction based on towers of binary fields called Binius [3] [4], which we are currently developing into a production-grade system.
Our team has cross-domain expertise and includes hardware designers, low-level systems software engineers, cryptography engineers, and data center specialists, several of whom worked in HFT previously.
